From EA's very own forums:
From the opening sequence of the demo where Dante is stitching a cross into his skin to the nude Beatrice, I pretty much felt like I was being baptized in oily, filthy water... In summary, gameplay was lame, Dante's a moron, Beatrice is a *, camera movement was obnoxious, premise is embarrassing while pretending to be literary and historically informed, and I'd rather get Bayonetta than this crap. Apparently In summary, gameplay was lame, Dante's a moron.....

The book was great, so this will be good if it goes along with the story. Unfortunantly, Dante didn't actually fight anyone in the book, so this already strays away from what the main focus should be. Oh well...

Jonathan Knight: Dante’s Inferno “Bastardization” of Epic Poem
And in a particularly interesting turn of events, Knight was kind enough to divulge his thoughts on the criticism surrounding the video game adaptation, admitting that the game is a “bastardization” of the original poem,

OMG! EA fail's lead fanboy Jonathan Knight sentences Dante's Beatrice to Nuidity!! OMG!! What an EPIC FAIL FANBOY!!! LOLZ!!!
http://www.stuff.co.nz/dominion-post/entertainment/blogs/infernal-machines/3240030/Dantes-Inferno-Gates-of-Hell-demoDante's Inferno follows the poet warrior as he hacks and slashes his way through the demons of hell to save his girlfriend from the Devil.
Are you just screwing with me, Visceral?
Surely this is a joke. Surely a developer would be too crippled with embarrassment to put so much money, time and effort into something so ridiculous - turning a literary allegory on the nature of good and evil into a blood spattered God of War clone.
As you might have heard, it IS basically a clone. A carbon copy of Sony's successful massacring of Greek myth. Not that there's anything wrong with that. Plenty of fantastic games are shameless copies. Bioshock is System Shock plus Fallout; Saint's Row is Grand Theft Auto minus brains. If you can make a good game that resembles one people already love, then why not?
LOLZZZZ THEY RIPPED OFF GOD OF WAR LOLZZZ!!!
But Dante's Inferno isn't just a clone - it IS God of War. The attacks are the same, the plot elements are the same, the quick-time events are the same, the health bar is the same. There are God of War orbs to collect so you can unlock more God of War moves to use on God of War enemies so you can get to giant, powerful God of War bosses.

EA'S #1 EPIC FAIL FANBOY JONATHAN KNIGHT GIVES BEATRICE HUGE BOOBIES LOLZ!!!!!!Outside, he finds the dead body of his lover, Beatrice. In the poem, Beatrice represents love and maternal feeling. In the game, Beatrice is a hot, chesty woman with a craving for demon meat. She's lying dead and half-naked on the ground, then her spirit pops out, naked, to be groped by a cloud of smoke known to most as Satan.
She's naked because men buy video games and men loves breasts. So that will make them buy the game, right? RIGHT?! Look forward to the upcoming game adaptation of Othello where Desdemona is a pole-dancing hooker.

adds to the atmosphere or the story, but because they desperately want you to

And yet even more EA Jonathan Knight Dante's Inferno Suckage!!!
I found the demo to be completely uninspiring.
Not having actually played any GoW, but always feeling attracted to the storyline and the hype around the series, I was looking forward to the third installment. But if DI's a "blatant ripoff", I'm not sure I'm that excited about it anymore.
(From what I got in the demo) DI is just a series of small and restrictive areas where you have to kill everyone by button mashing (in a specified sequence for more powerful combos... such skill...), followed by a story-developing cut-scene (which unnecessarily contain boobs to irk the ESRB, but I'm not complaining), followed by a big and angry boss fight, ad nauseam.
I fail to see the long-term fun in this. Sure, the graphics are nice, and the story might be interesting ("might", meaning it wasn't in the demo, although the Reaper fight was mildly amusing), but the gaming experience is severely lacking for me personally.

One thing I would like to see improved is the camera angles. It just seemed like the camera was always so far away from the action in the game. I hope this is something they are able to fix before the game launches later this year. It tends to suck you out of the action with the drawn back camera. I'm not against fixed camera angles, but I think the game would definitely benefit from closing the distance with the camera.
Other than the camera, it looks as if EA is looking to deliver another fomulaic, yet solid game for us all to enjoy. Be sure to check it out when the game drops next month.

"it's a compliment to be mentioned in the same sentence as that storied franchise"
Please... when you make a game that feels and plays damn close (even the way the camera moves!) to what God of War does... its only natural to be compared to it... When I played the demo, all I could think was "wow, this feels like GOW..." Unsurprisingly my friends made the same comment.
Now I am not saying that GOW was not influenced by other action games, but I am saying that of all the action games out there none feel like GOW besides this one. GOW did not feel like a knock off of anothers and took its own original steps. Anyhow... I am sure this will be tested by all that reads this... but that is my 2cents...
I completely agreed after playing the demo the only difference is the story line and the moral decsion making parts of the game i also found the fact that i could not control the camer really annonying coz at certain pints in the game u cant really see and you really want to move the camera

more on how fanboy jonathan knight fanboyized, debauched, and killed dante's inferno
http://community.livejournal.com/intelligamers/11739.html
Dragging Beatrice down into hell, and having it be because she lost faith
with Dante, is in a way one of the biggest slaps in the face of this game.
Beatrice was the epitome of purity, and the game in a way defiled her--and if
nothing else, Dante's image of her--by having her taken to Hell in the way she
was. They took away her saintliness (whether it was real or imagined by Dante
for his own poetic reasons I leave to y'all; Dante himself referred to her as
"the glorious lady of my mind") and the things that made her special to the real
Dante, all for the sake of creating a MacGuffin--game!Dante needed a reason to
fight his way through Hell, and hey, Beatrice is the woman Dante loved (...will
refrain from going off on just what "courtly love" is and why EA is failing so
hard at groking that "courtly love" and "love" as we see it are not the same
thing), so she'll do! Drag her down into Hell! And make it so she chose to
go!

No. No it is not. First off, the poem itself is called "The Comedy",
Inferno is one of the canticles. Secondly, the entire poem is an excuse for
Dante to rant about politics. Under no possible understanding of the work is
this game adapted from the source material. Yes, it takes place in Hell, but
Dante's structure of Hell and the demarcations of different sins relative to
each other borrows heavily from Ovid's work, so you could just as easily call
this game "Ovid's Metamorphosis" and be just as right!http://www.cracked.com/forums/topic/52573/dantes-inferno-a-clusterfuck-creepy

more on jonathan knight's EA fanboy suckage: "serious issues with pretty much everything having to do with EA's "Dante's Inferno.""
http://community.livejournal.com/intelligamers/11739.html
I have serious issues with pretty much everything having to do with EA's "Dante's Inferno." And for the sake of my sanity, I'm going to refer to the game as "DI" and the actually poem as Dante's Inferno or The Inferno, for the sake of cutting down on confusion and because it almost physically pains me to attach Dante to EA's travesty.
There's a lot about DI I hate that I could write a tome about, including its marketing, but this post is very specifically about the imagery of women in the game, focusing on Beatrice (and oh, man, I'm seriously wishing I had my notes from college from the class on Dante I took--part of my hate of this game stems from the fact that I love The Divine Comedy, and EA has turned it into a pathetic God of War clone) and all the things they've done so wrong with her.

jonathan knight and ea should be banned from both the videogames industry and culture in general.

Former EA Exec Predicts Dante's Inferno Game Will Epic #EAFAIL!
"But by far the greatest failure of Riccitiello's strategy has been the EA Games
division. JR bet his tenure on EA's ability to "grow their way through the
transition" to digital/online with hit packaged goods titles. They honestly
believed that they had a decade to make this transition (I think it's more like
2-3 years). Since the recurring-revenue sports titles were already "booked"
(i.e., fully accounted for in the Wall Street estimates) it fell to EA Games to
make hits that could move the needle. It's been a very ugly scene, indeed. From
Spore, to Dead Space, to Mirror's Edge, to Need for Speed: Undercover, it's been
one expensive commercial disappointment for EA Games after another. Not to
mention the shut-down of Pandemic, half of the justification for EA's $850MM
acquisition of Bioware-Pandemic. And don't think that Dante's Inferno, or
Knights of the Old Republic, is going to make it all better. It's a bankrupt
strategy."

EA's Lead "Ridiculous" Fanboy Jonathan Knight is Killing Dante's Inferno
Since adapting "Dante's Inferno" into a video game, and then adapting that video game into a comic book wasn't ridiculous
enough, EA will be releasing a new "novelization" in bookstores next week. While
that initially sounded like they'd commissioned an original work of fiction
based on the first cantica of Dante Alighieri's 14th century epic poem "The
Divine Comedy," that's not exactly it, although it's just as nuts.
http://www.comicsalliance.com/2010/01/16/dantes-inferno-rebranded-as-video-game-novelization/
They're actually just republishing Henry Wadsworth Longfellow's existing
translation, but completely rebranding it as a video game tie-in, complete with
cover art featuring a "300"-esque warrior and a giant scythe that's like 8-feet
tall and straight out of "Final Fantasy." Basically, if there were a commercial
for this book, it would have a nu-metal soundtrack, and this (actual) back cover
copy would be read by the guy who does spooky voiceovers for movie
trailers:

to argue against stealth culture bombing.
