Maybe this game (Jonathan Knight's Dante's Inferno) sucks so much for most o ...
"because some of you are playing it on Classic."
Please play it on fanboy!
Fans Call Bullshit on EA's Jonathan Knight's Bastardization of Dante's Inferno
@TheOrgangeFellow: I don't see him calling anyone pretentious. But maybe I'm
misunderstanding you. ---------------------------- I call bullshit on this story
though. I read The Inferno a long time ago, and this guy presumes to tell me
that I'm over the moon with this game? Fuck you. That's like me saying true
Final Fantasy fans love FF7 because it's the greatest. That's ridiculous!
Granted I'm not one of the people that is pitching a bitch, I just saw an
Inferno game going in a different direction.
http://www.destructoid.com/visceral-true-poetry-fans-love-dante-s-inferno-game-155879.phtmlFor someone with a degree an English and Creative Writing degree, the soul existence of this game makes my head feel like it is going to explode. I digress, though. If Doobles is right, and it will serve as a tool to introduce people to The Divine Comedy, then ok. I still think it looks more like a bastardization of the original material than an honest adaptation; especially the Lust level. I really hope Dante comes back from the dead and wreaks havoc on the Visceral Games office.

EA's Lead "Ridiculous" Fanboy Jonathan Knight is Killing Dante's Inferno
Since adapting "Dante's Inferno" into a video game, and then adapting that video game into a comic book wasn't ridiculous
enough, EA will be releasing a new "novelization" in bookstores next week. While
that initially sounded like they'd commissioned an original work of fiction
based on the first cantica of Dante Alighieri's 14th century epic poem "The
Divine Comedy," that's not exactly it, although it's just as nuts.

They're actually just republishing Henry Wadsworth Longfellow's existing
translation, but completely rebranding it as a video game tie-in, complete with
cover art featuring a "300"-esque warrior and a giant scythe that's like 8-feet
tall and straight out of "Final Fantasy." Basically, if there were a commercial
for this book, it would have a nu-metal soundtrack, and this (actual) back cover
copy would be read by the guy who does spooky voiceovers for movie
trailers:

The Fanboyz are Killing Dante's Inferno!!!
Kohler says: This reminds me of something I saw at a bookstore the other
day. Indeed, the top result on Amazon for Wuthering Heights is this
ambitious bit of marketing that disguises it as an entry in the Twilight
series. In other words, you’re right, Gus; this is an old trick, but it’s hard
to argue against stealth culture bombing.

More on Epic EAfail/Epic EA fanboy/fanmba suck
http://www.gamersdailynews.com/article-2169-HandsOn-with-Dantes-Inferno.html
The combat to Dante’s Inferno isn’t terrible, but it isn’t great either. It’s just another action game trying to be God of War. The story may be good if you could care less about the literary origins. The artwork goes from being generic to outright disturbing and disgusting. EA can use as much controversial marketing tactics as they wish, but there is a very small audience for this game. It will have its fans, most certainly, but weeks after this game has been released it will become forgotten.
Thank God.

Yes--EA's Fanboy/Fanmba Dante's Inferno Game Sucks: From Gamer's Daily News
http://www.gamersdailynews.com/article-2169-HandsOn-with-Dantes-Inferno.html
"What can be said for Dante’s Inferno? Well, it is definitely a complete rip-off of God of War, so it has that going for it. Oh, and it probably would have been better just to have made the game about a random crusader diving through the many layers of Hell and claiming inspiration to the literary classic. Now it just enrages anyone with an appreciation for those long forgotten “book” things your ancestors used to read. You know, back when paper was used by everyone and not just bureaucrats behind the times.
Truth be told the game wasn’t really all that thrilling. In fact, it was a little bit irritating and just a tad sickening. A number of buttons can be used for different attacks, yet somehow I always found myself pulling off the same combo that ended with me stabbing into the ground with a bone scythe. It felt like the only way to win was to simply button mash without any real plan in mind."

Dante's Inferno God of War Ripoff
From: http://www.toplessrobot.com/2009/10/dantes_inferno_game_has_shaky_understanding_of_lus.php
"Okay. I understand that the Dante's Inferno videogame has very little to do
with the classic literature. As a English lit nerd, I don't like it, but I
understand it. So rather than bitch about that, I'll bitch about how Dante's
Inferno looks like hell's biggest God of War rip-off. Okay, there are certainly
worse games to rip off, but I swear Dante has the exact same attacks as Kratos,
except when the swishes stop, he's holding a scythe instead of Kratos'
ridiculous yo-yo blades......oh.You're probably more upset about the giant lady
who shoots demon babies out of her nipples or the other evil lady with the
vagina on her stomach with its own hideous tongue tentacle, aren't you? Yeah,
those are bad too."--http://www.toplessrobot.com/2009/10/dantes_inferno_game_has_shaky_understanding_of_lus.php

I've been very surprised how much negative press I've seen about this game; I've always thought it was a fairly good premise and an interesting setting. Who knew that there were that many people that really love Dante. "--http://www.toplessrobot.com/2009/10/dantes_inferno_game_has_shaky_understanding_of_lus.php

I don't like this too much, either. My main reason: I *am* an English teacher, and I am now terrified about what I will see and hear in papers, discussions, and projects when we do Dante's Inferno. Not to mention the angry parents who think I'm talking about this game because they too did less than stellar in their English classes.Do all the crazy alien fantasy games/characters you want, but just stay away from our literature.
