I have been posting there under Dr. Ranger McCoy, talking about the future of exalted games with Gold 45 Revolver showdowns and such, and lamenting, along with you guys, the lack of true story and interactive narrative in games.
Feel free to copy and paste any of the topics I started over there in this thread, which you feel merit further discussion and deliberation.
I imagine you guys will be laughing reading through some of those threads over there--both @ me and with me. Happy to entertain with some Heavy Rain call outs!
And hey Steve et al.--I never meant any offense--I love & respect you guys & all that you're doing & I appreciate you guys giving me--a virtual outsider--the time of day even. Rock on!
To sum up my work @ amazon.com:
"Well, if you're interested in exalted story & manly gameplay in which your choices and rugged, manly actions matter and affect the outcome of the game, then it seems heavy rain kinda sux.
Edge 7/10: "general skeleton of the story cannot truly be changed, cheapening every event in the process."
thesixthaxis.com 7/10: "empty. ...THE STORY IS SET IN STONE... "it's not a game... certainly doesn't play like one"
Guardian Review: "players' input often turns out to be of negligable importance; certain things always pan out in a certain way."
GamesRadar.com 7/10: Heavy Rain "fails, hard" at Narrative. "gratuitous, schlocky and unoriginal story"
Destructoid: 7/10: "very rarely does your input matter" "the story is so terrible"
lozlzl x 5!!
a quintiple lozlzlzlz!!"
I think you guys are generally closer to exalting story than does Heavy Rain.
Rock on!
Be fun to discuss how Sony/Quantic seems to be falsely hyping the player's ability to effect the story.

Thanks Steve,
Yes--the amazon participants are indeed calling me a lot of names and participating in ad hominem attacks while h8ing on the the exalted future of gaming, and I appreciate that you are dedicated to keeping these forums free of such sordid, unbecoming behavior. Some of the attackers seem to be employed by major corporations, and we must never let corporate entities censor free speech and exalted thought.
I'm just making sure that when all that I have so far proposed, which continues to be so roundly belittled and crucified by so many in the industry, is finally adopted in tomorrow's exalted, classical games, I will receive the credit. It might be a year or two... but it will happen. :)

ool! For some odd reason my posts are the definitive posts on this forum in views, responses, and overall popularity. I would estimate that they define 80% on this board. :)
Wherever I post, my ideas generate record-setting response.
Surely this is of some value to the ailing industry!
I feel people are at least getting used to me and my ideas, as over time, they will not be considered so novel, but rather "common sense."
Historically speaking, it does attest to the common journeys walked by Socrates and so many innovators who were persecuted before their ideas were adopted and generated untold wealth in assorted institutions.
Again, thanks for your time in moderating this forum & providing a yet another cool forum for my ideas.
Best, :)

Well yes, as I graduated with honors from Princeton and hold a Ph.D. from UNC where both my teaching and research won prestigious awards, I can assure you that my posts are of the highest quality.
Few, if any, have thought longer and harder about the future of games as art in the exalted context of the Masters--Homer, Dante, Moses, Socrates, Aristotle, and Virgil.
And over the past eight months or so, my quality posts have been making waves, now and then inspiring uncontrollable emotions, which is the way it has ever worked, ever since Prometheus stole fire from the gods and was punished.

Also wanted to thank you guys for cleaning up these forums!
There were a lot of libellious posts filled with snark, libel, slander, and ad hominem attacks directed my way, which are now gone.
I did manage to get screenshots of said screens befopre they were deleted, as in order to prove innovation, one must show that one's ideas run counter to the experts'.
Also, in case anyone involved with these boards ever uses my ideas, it will be fun to share such posts with the world, along with the fact that I was banned from these boards, even with such horrendous, libellious things being said about me. Nobody stood up for me, and everyone just watched on. :(
All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self-evident. Arthur Schopenhauer, German philosopher (1788 - 1860)
Thanks again for cleaning up these boards and setting a higher standard for future discourse!!

Hello Steve--are your above words not a backhanded attack?
I am trying to keep things civil here.
I merely pointed out that my ideas/words/posts have generated the most interest, dialogue, and discourse here.
And then you come in with a back-handed insult implying that there is a lack of quality in my threads.
Could you please delete your above attack in the spirit of the more exalted direction of these forums?
Thanks!

While the Amazon.com participants may have had a much lower tolerance for your particular brand of vitrol, we here on these forums have tried to extend you ever courtesy. However, based on your behavior here, you have used up your ability to wander 'off the reservation' on these forums.
My only behavior here has been attempting to exalt a renaissance in games and gaming. Over at amazon anonymous attackers are accusing me of having been touched by my father, while over at neogaf the industry insiders likened me to the man who shot up the holocaust museum which is painful as my mother is a holocaust survivor, and then the industry insiders banned me. I just keep on with my exalted prose, which by the way, is also dominating over at amazon, due to its quality and ability to exalt and inspire.
You engaged in much libel, slander, and ad hominem attacks earlier on in this forum, and I have saved the screenshots of you doing so. Thank you for deleting it.
You also banned me.
You also deleted posts of mine with pictures with gold 45 revolvers in them, while you yourself posted random gifs, which are still there.

Backhandedly implying that my content-inspiring posts are of low quality is not civil, and it constitutes a back-handed attack of the highest order.
I hope that as this forum evolves in a more exalted manner, that you adhere to your rules.
Indeed--who will watch the watchmen?
Quis custodiet ipsos custodes? is a Latin phrase from the Roman poet Juvenal, which is literally translated as, "Who will guard the guards themselves?" The saying has since been used to explore the question of where ultimate power should reside, or alternately, the problem of ultimate power. Some forms of government attempt to solve this problem through separation of powers (the government of the United States is one example). As long as the "watchers" are a small and potentially corruptible group, the question asked is a sort of paradox, and perhaps an example of infinite regress.

Hero's Journey Startup(TM) & Hero's Journey Entrepreneurship(TM)
Hero's Journey Startup(TM) & Hero's Journey Entrepreneurship(TM)
The Hero's Journey Entrepreneurship Secret(TM): Creating Infinite
Wealth With Your Ideals and Dreams on a Hero's Journey of Your Own
http://herosjourneyentrepreneurship.org
1. The Ordinary World: You awake each day to the routine, rise, and
leave your dreams behind.
Blog your dream. Set it down in a notebook. Take ownership in your
ideas with blogger.com or wordpress.org.
2. The Call to Adventure: A more vivid dream--a flash of inspiration.
You can't shake the feeling--the wave is real, though they can't see
it.
Register those copyrights. File that provisional patent. Register that
trademark. Voyage on out to your bookstore and cruise the section on
entrepreneurship. Check out the USPTO. Read the Declaration of
Independence and the Constitution--they were written for you.
3. Refusal of the Call: Voices tell you that you aren't good enough.
Friends, parents, teachers, bosses, and your own internal voice.
Seek mentorship from those who have done, for they will say, "yes you
can."
4. Meeting the Mentor: With newfound energy you seek mentorship--you
turn to the Great Books & Classics--The Odyssey & The Inferno--
Shakespeare & The Bible, Franklin, Lincoln, Jefferson, and Martin
Luther King Jr.
Mentorship surrounds us. Wisdom comes from all walks of life. So
listen, watch, and read. And then read some more--for those books
which have lasted have lasted via the profound mentorship they
provide.
The USPTO has resources dedicated to artists, musicians, authors, and
creators.
Nolo.com has wonderful books for artists, authors, and creators. Two
of my favorites are Patent it Yourself and Patents, Trademarks, and
Copyrights.
5. Calling the Bluff: Nobody knows the hand you hold. And you can't
see theirs. But it seems--yes--they're bluffing. So you call 'em and
raise 'em, and you let them see the .45 revolver by your side--the
Truth of the Great Books and Classics. You're going to surf that dream
on home.
Dr. E added the "calling the bluff" stage to Campbell's outline. You
gotta call the postmodern bluff. Postmodern Wall Street transfers the
risk to you and the wealth to themselves. Postmodern academia sells
expensive degrees that often don't teach much of value, instead
teaching the exact opposite, opposing classical entreprneurship.
Postmodern politics and literature have replaced plot and character
with hype, and Hollywood has replaced Epic Story with reality TV and
remakes of seventies sitcms.
Call the bluff, live the renaissance, and vast wealth will be yours.
6. Crossing the Threshold: And so you set out, crossing that point of
no return. You have no choice but to succeed. Once you're on that
wave, you've got but one choice--ride it.
Suddenly the words of the Greats take on a new, more immediate
meaning. Watch Braveheart, The Matrix, The Outlaw Jose Wales, and A
Fistful of Dollars. Take those ideals off the silver screen, take them
out of the books, for ideals are most useful tools in reaching your
most valuable assets--your passions and dreams.
Incorporate at bizfilings.com. As of today, you are your own business,
and you can take Mark Cuban's investment advice--"invest in You, Inc."
7. The Road of Trials: It ain't easy out here. Some statistics say
that 90% of small businesses fold in five years. An infitesimal
percentage of novels are published and screenplays optioned. But you
do it anyway, as did everyone who ever suceeded. So you patent it,
trademark it, copyright it, and live it.
"Every fighter has a plan," Mike Tyson once said, "until they get
hit." But that's the joy of battle--for out here alone do we ever find
our true constitution--our ability to innovate and think on our feet,
and still prevail. So follow your dream, and tell the world, "My name
is __________."
8. Tests, Allies, Enemies: Even when your business is launched, when
your screenplay is being produced, there will yet be those forces that
oppose and sabotage. But too, loyal friends will emerge, and a
Fellowship will form.
And you shall find those best of friends that one only finds away out
here, along this journey--they too left the ordinary world long ago
and set off to follow their ideals, and Destiny brought you together.
9. Supernatural Aid: Away out here, something magical happens. A
stroke of luck that only means something because of the risk you took.
You took a chance, called the bluff, and caught the wave just right.
So it is that "God helps those that help themselves."
Open source software, in all its robust freedom, can provide that
seemingly supernatural aid. Software is labor immortalized, and open
source has bestowed us with not only LAMP (Linux, Apache, MYSQL, PHP/
PYTHON/PERL/RUBY) servers, but it offers free and robust solutions for
ecommerce, content management, blogging, alubum hosting, and more.
Fantastico allows for the quick and easy installing of leading open
source spplication such as wordpress (blogging), joomla/drupal/
postunke (content management), and cubecart/oscommerce/zencart
(ecommerce). Hostgator accounts come with Fantastico and the intuitive
cpanel interface. Also check out hotscripts.com for more free
software.
Don't be afraid to get under the hood and "teach yourself" linux/php/
mysql/apache in ten minutes, twenty-four hours, or fourteen days--you
know those books. Hard work and studious industry is the best
supernatural aid there is!
And now it's your turn to give someone a break--to provide trusting
mentorship. Should you ever find yourself waiting around to be helped,
reach out and help someone--give 'em a break.
10. Stringing the Bow/Seizing the Sword: Degrees, money, and titles
mean little out here--victory goes to those with integrity--those with
honor, courage, and commitment. For ideals alone can string eternity's
bow.
Ideals are your most valuable asset--they are those entities which
inspired those dreams that awoke you long ago--the dream that haunted
your days, always beckoning you to embark on this journey.
11. The Showdown/Ordeal: It's been a long time coming. You just wanted
to live in peace and harmony, but that boss/bureaucrat/outlaw
antagonist just wouldn't let you. But you call them out, and now you
get to stand toe-to-toe; face-to-face with a new book, or invention,
or film, or venture that serves the world in a better way.
So often it is that entrepreneurship is opposed. "No good deed goes
unpunished." Socrates and Jesus were sentenced to death for seeing a
better way and speaking the simple truth to power. Steve Jobs was
kicked out of Apple. Read Richard Branson's biography, and you will
see the hundreds of showdowns he partook in.
12. Rescue From Without/The Resurrection: So often it is that just as
one wins, the jealous bureaucracy moves in to seize control. In every
Western, after our hero wins the showdown fair and square, yet another
Outlaw draws a bead on him--to shoot him in the back.
Jobs was kicked out of Apple, but then brought back to take it to new
heights. Richard Branson lost Virgin Records, but was reborn in Virgin
Airlines and a thousand other ventures. John C. Bogle founded Vanguard
upon the ideals set forth in his Princeton Senior Thesis, and now he
pens inspirational books and speeches based on those very same ideals.
Every entrepreneur ought read Battle for The Soul of Capitalism, as it
reminds us that entrepreneurship's greater purpose is to serve.
Those who live by ideals have no need to fear death, as Socrates
realized, for the soul is immortal. Though some bureaucracy rejects
the implementation of your ideals, they can't steal nor kill those
ideals--for America recognizes the entrepreneur's rights.
13. The Road Back/Return with the Elixir/Freedom: You took ownership
in your dreams and destiny--you called the bluff and caught the wave,
and the Truth set you free.
You added to the wealth of the world--the long-term wealth of the
world--via the simple act of following your passions and dreams.
And everything you learned on this Hero's Journey will come in handy
along tomorrow's journey--we're setting out at dawn.

Exalting the Low Level of Discourse in the Gaming Industry
Well, over the past few months, I have been dragged into the generally low level of discourse in the gaming industry.
I hope, that in this thread, for the first time, we can talk about my ideas in a more exalted manner.
If EA had wanted to exalt the Inferno and make millions while reveling in higher culture, all they had to do was ask, and I would have said, "sure go ahead and use some of the gold 45 revolver technologies." But unfortunately the troubled industry prefers insider arrogance and billions in losses over simple, classical dialogue and the exaltation of epic ideals in interactive narrative, alongside story--the soul of the work--according to Aristotle. I mean it really was pretty simple--"Honor Dante's spirit," and all will be well--after all--Dante know an awful lot about the rules of classical, epic Narrative Design, which have not changed any more than right and wrong, than night and day.
One can easily see that my exalted ideas and classical, reasoned thought are dominating in the free marketplace, beating out billion-dollar corporate hype with zero funding:
http://www.amazon.com/Heavy-Rain-Playst ... ort=oldest
I want to thank you guys for creating a forum and then also striving to make it more exalted. Thank you for deleting/editing your past posts which were filled with vitriol, libel, slander, and ad hominem attacks directed my way.
Over at amazon some anonymous folks are responding to my exalted words and ideas and innovations by saying that my father touched me and that I touched my mother. All I am doing is proposing a system and method for exalting games with story and emotion, and the pornagraphic fanboy hate and invective generally kick in, generally sanctified by the massive corporations and industry insiders hosting said forums and creating said games, which is EXACTLY why the industry is in trouble, laying off thousands, as the fanboy h8ers present a limited and dwindling market.
H8 FROM THE INDUSTRY INSIDERS:
Perhaps the most painful experience so far has been from a neogaffer (industry insider) saying that I was like the man who shot up the Holocaust museum in DC.
http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=366448
My mother is a Holocaust survivor and she lost many relatives in the camps in Europe during World War II. I was ultimately banned from Neogaf, while that poster/h8er/defamer/debaucher is yet posting.
I have also been kicked off forums for criticizing EA's treatment of women in their crass marketing campaigns and games. All the h8 puzzles the will. Why h8? For Virgil reminds us, "love conquers all, so let us surrender 2 love."
The Holocaust is no joking manner, nor is it a prop for one's slanderous agenda, and it amazes me that the neogaffers are perfectly fine with this slander, while my exalted ideas regarding the future of games and gaming are routinely belittled, kicked down, libelled, mocked, and spit on throughout the industry. Reading through the NEOGAF thread, one can see the level of discourse that is holding the industry back.
One of the problems is that major companies are designing games not for the general public, but for the handful embittered neogaffers who think Holocaust jokes are funny.
Gaming companies are missing out on vast opportunities by
1) creating an atmosphere nonconducive to exalted dialogue and idealistic thought
2) dumbing down and debauching culture to fit the neogaff needs
3) redefining classical, epic, exalted story in a peurile, dumbed-down, soulless way
But not everyone in the industry is debauched, cynical, h8ful of the Great Books and Classics, and demented.
In fact, I have received correspondence from folks employed at major gaming magazines--magazines you can purchase in your local bookstore. Sadly, their commentary also pertained to this forum, which at that time was brimming with snark, libel, and invective hurled my way; which has thankfully been deleted.

Hey Elliot... are you John Galt?
I've been reading many, many of your posts on many message boards. Wow! I don't know where to start... well, it looks like you have an actual hardcopy book of your ideas. Can I buy this online somewhere? It's incredibly exciting reading your stuff on posts, but the thing is, it really depresses me seeing the responses. I have to say you handle them well, but when I see responses, time and again, that are aggressively unwelcoming, small-minded, mean-spirited, and just plain close-minded, it really gets me down. How can I get a copy of your so-called "crazy" ideas?!
Also, it's very, very inspiring to see others out there who actually UNDERSTAND that we haven't necessarily progressed "beyond" the classical world. "We got iPods and Blu-ray players and pot that's waaaaaaaaay stronger than back in the day; just imagine, those dumb Greek mother****ers were just sitting around all day, talkin' and wastin' time!" I swear man, sometimes I really do feel like there are two species of human, because those people who ridicule what you say in your posts - it's not that they aren't intelligent enough to get what you're saying, as a lot of them are able to express themselves fairly well, it's that they are simply fundamentally opposed to... to what? The idea that some ways of living are superior (you would say "exalted" - a good word!) to others? The idea that morality isn't about being clever enough to never get caught? That they're capable of more than they are now?
I used to think that it was all a matter of raw intelligence... I thought that, over time, intelligence would be rewarded and stupidity punished to the point that a futuristic version of humanity would become "enlightened". I was completely wrong. I have seen a lot of very clever, even smart people, simply unable to conceive of a better world, of living as a human worthy of making the world a place fit to live in. It does get me down as I get older - but reading some of your posts were a great help, and I thank you for it!
I'm actually trying to get XXXXXXXXXXX to print some things I'm writing that tie video games with ancient stories, mythology, and so on. Of course it would be a damn sight better to simply have games made by brave men with hearts like firebrands who would simply make games that were already complete mythologies in and of themselves, and that have the balls to support one ideology over another and if people get upset then so be it, let's debate - but as it is, I'm trying to remain content with pointing out similarities between games now and stories then. Once they're up, I'll let you know!
Alright man, whatever you do, don't give up. Right now I'm acting as my own Samwise carrying my Frodo-self through Mordor, but just knowing that the renaissance is in the minds of others is a big help.

And also:
You know, it really doesn't surprise me that the French would make a game where you can make choices, but then those choices don't affect the ultimate outcome or the world itself. I'm going to hold off saying much because I am curious to see what the game is like, but it wouldn't surprise me if it was a fatalistic study of the disempowerment of the individual, the inability to fight fate, the absurdity of reason, and all those other things that people think is so "sexy" about existentialism.
Still, my fingers are crossed that we're both wrong!
Keep in touch, and always let me know what's going on... you're definitely in my dossier of members for a "dream team" designed to save the world and change the course of future history. Sadly, it's a pretty short roster so far.
Well, you guys could apologize for the hate, ad hominem attacks, and invective you hurled my way, or you could just delete me, as well as the words from a major player at a major magazine; but either way, you cannot stop the exalted renaissance in gaming.
The simple, exalted words of my patent application are what inspired a neogaffer/industry insider to hatefully accuse me of being like the man who shot up the Holocaust Museum, even though my mother is a Holocaust survivor. Below please find the abstract and claims which inspired a deluge of hate, libel, slander, and ad hominem attacks throughout the industry. I have faith we can put the snarky h8 behind us and move on in a more exalted, honorable manner.
Major companies need new, exalted ideas so they can 1) stop demeaning women, 2) stop degrading culture, 3) stop losing tens of billions in market cap, and 4) stop condescending to the fanboys who are yearning for far greater things--for a renaissance.
As one of the world's largest game makers whose debauched Inferno just flopped, EA's stock price trajectory represents this need for change.
http://www.google.com/finance?chdnp=1&c ... RTS&ntsp=0
I would love the opportunity to discuss my novel ideas without the invective, hate, slander, smug snark, and libel that has so far dominated the discussion.
I am patiently awaiting a brand new day and more exalted way.
Patent application title: System and method for creating exalted video games and virtual realities wherein ideas have consequences:
Read more: http://www.faqs.org/patents/app/2009001 ... z0g5cCUTC0
Abstract:
A video game method and system for creating games where ideas have consequences, incorporating branching paths that correspond to a player's choices, wherein paths correspond to decisions founded upon ideals, resulting in exalted games with deeper soul and story, enhanced characters and meanings, and exalted gameplay. The classical hero's journey may be rendered, as the journey hinges on choices pivoting on classical ideals. Ideas that are rendered in word and deed will have consequences in the gameworld. Historical events such as The American Revolution may be brought to life, as players listen to famous speeches and choose sides. As great works of literature and dramatic art center around characters rendering ideals real, both internally and externally, in word and deed, in love and war, the present invention will afford video games that exalt the classical soul, as well as the great books, classics, and epic films--past, present, and future.
Claims:
1. A method for creating video games and virtual realities wherein ideas have consequences.
2. The method in claim 1 where said ideas are rooted in classical, epic precepts such as those found in the Great Books and Classics, and exalted at the pinnacles of Western culture and history.
3. The method in claim 1 where said ideas are manifested in the words the player or non-player characters, write, speak, read, disseminate, congregate about, fight for, and/or associate with.
4. The method in claim 1 where said ideas are manifested in the actions the player, non-player characters, and/or monsters act out.
5. The method in claim 1 where said ideas spread like viruses, by being spoken, written, or disseminated in some other manner, transforming characters who come in contact with said ideas into vampires, zombies, or other forms of monsters.
6. The method in claim 1 where said ideas spread like viruses, by being spoken, written, or disseminated in some other manner, transforming characters who come in contact with said ideas into vampires, zombies, or other forms of monsters, and where said vampires, zombies, and monsters may be saved or converted back to normal by coming in contact with ideas that oppose the ideas that made them vampires, zombies, and other forms of monsters.
7. The method in claim 1 where said ideas must be fought for via words and dialogue, before they have exalted consequences.
8. The method in claim 1 where said ideas must be fought for via deeds and actions, before they have exalted consequences.
9. The method in claim 1 where the player can fight for said ideas in word and deed, and witness the exalted consequences of those ideals, including liberty, freedom, and justice, when they succeed, and the dire consequences of tyranny, domination, and intimidation, when they fail to render exalted ideas, as ideas have consequences.
10. The method in claim 1 where the character can fight for said ideas such as marriage, the Constitution, the Declaration of Independence, and right to life in word and deed, and witness the exalted consequences of those ideals, including a stable and enduring society should they succeed, and a declining, bankrupt civilization, should they fail.
11. The method in claim 1 where the character can battle for said ideas that are based upon classical moral and economic principles of famous philosophers, prophets, poets, statesmen, and economists including Plato, Moses, Jesus, Gandhi Sun Tzu, Buda, Jefferson, Aristotle, F. A. Hayek, Martin Luther King Jr., Homer, Ludwig Von Mises, Adam Smith, and others, and witness the consequences of both their success and failure of their battle, as the consequences are rendered in the game's physical world.
12. The method in claim 1 where the character can battle for said ideas via both word and deed, using a combination of words and action, witnessing the consequences of their balance between word and deed, between reasoning and partaking in violence, thusly bringing to life epic classical works of film and literature wherein the hero must balance word and deed.
13. The method in claim 1 where fighting for said ideas in word and/or deed will have consequences regarding the operation of a weapon, which will operate at its full potential for the players and characters who are the most successful in serving ideals and ideas, and rendering them in word and deed.
14. The method in claim 1 wherein said ideas may be based upon Constitutional ideals and ideas underlying the American Founding, including the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, sound currency, the right to bear arms, the freedom of speech, the right of the artist, author, and inventor to own their creations and inventions; and wherein the player could fight for sound money in word and deed and witness the consequences of their successes and failures, including liberty, wealth creation, capitalism, freedom, private property, peace, and prosperity or rapid inflation, deflation, theft via the inflation tax, massive debt, empire, long lines, wealth transfer to the rich, depressions, corruption, and war.
15. The method in claim 1 where the said ideas will be supported or opposed by in-game characters, and the player will have to choose how to interact with the said in-game characters, based on their ideas, including but not limited to whether or not to befriend them, agree with them, disagree with them, ignore them, recruit them, shoot them, save them, judge them, or forgive them.
16. The method in claim 1 where the said ideas are based upon the pivotal plot points of the great books and classics.
17. The method in claim 1 where said ideas spread like viruses, by being spoken, written, or disseminated in some other manner, transforming characters who come in contact with said ideas into vampires, zombies, or other forms of monsters; and when bad ideas have infected too many in-game characters, the consequences are dire, including the loss of life, liberty, happiness, freedom, and security.
18. The method in claim 1 wherein said ideas may be related to economics and monetary policy, and wherein the player could fight for sound money in words echoing the classical economists and deed and witness the consequences of their successes and failures, including liberty, freedom, peace and prosperity or rapid inflation, deflation, theft via the inflation tax, massive debt, empire, long lines, depressions, corruption, and war.
19. The method in claim 1 wherein moral ideas have moral consequences in the evolution of the gameworld.
20. The method in claim 1 where said ideas in the video game world are founded upon the natural ideas and ideals occurring at the plot points in great works of literature and film where a character must choose whether to serve an ideal or not serve an ideal, thusly rendering or not rendering ideals real by their actions, and influencing the greater outcome and state of the game world, as ideas have consequences.
21. The method in claim 1 where said ideas in the video game world are used to exalt the classic hero's journey, and where a player's success and progress at every stage or step or plot point of said hero's journey is defined by said player's service or disservice to said ideas and ideals, and where by said player's serving said ideas and classical ideals, said hero's journey advances towards ultimate victory and triumph, while by said character's failing to serve said ideas and classical ideals, progress in said hero's journey is retarded or reversed.

Many do not see connection between story, soul, & $$$$$$$$!!
Many do not see connection between story, soul, & $$$$$$$$!!
It is sad to see your schoolmarmish "can't do"/"mustn't do"/"father EA knows best" attitudes.
It is like you're walking around like a Nun witha ruler coming down on the desk of anyone who takes their eye off the board; only on the board the are not exalting Beatirce, but they are stripping her naked & trying to sell her boobies to the fanboyz who arent's buying it as tehy are seeking their true fathers (THE GREAT BOOKS & CLASSICS) & losing tens of billions; and yet you spend all your time hating on me who is only trying to exalt the industry in a novel manner allowing interactive entertainment to reach its higher glory, via ideas, which acted or not acted upon, have varying consequences; as virtue is ideals rendered in action (Aristotle) and all wealth derives from virtue (Socrates).
Many of you do not see the connection between story, soul, ideals, & $$$$$$$$!!
Many of you also exalt not in seeking truth via dialogue, but in playing little games, making up fake prior art, banning, locking, and censoring, mashing buttons to get your way; even through the greater riches are to be found in epic, exalted Truth; and not in little highjinx moves.
Story is the soul of the work--the events which show what happens to those who serve ideals and the moral premise, and those who do not.
Here we just had an opportunity to exalt Dante's Inferno in any one of a myriad number of ways exalting story, soul, and eternity; but instead they replaced the sense of Divine Justice and classical precepts with a neither-here-nor-there, absolve/damn gameplay hijinx.
Check out EA's Market Cap:
http://www.google.com/finance?chdnp=1&c ... RTS&ntsp=0
Since around when EA started working on the game, EA's market cap has plummeted aby about $10 billion!!!
EA has been spending millions on the highjinxy/offensive/peurile marketing of a game which desecrates Dante's original exalted work, strips his beloved Beatrice naked, throws her into hell, and then tries to sell her b00bies to the fanboyz mashing buttons in their single-mom's basement. .... and it ain't working!!
It's as if John Riccitiello's & Jonathan Knight used their opportunity to lose millions and billions to recreate classical art in their own debauched, soulless, story-free image.
They had an epic chance to exalt art, videogames, profundity, women, Dante, poetry, the classics, a franchise, and EA's market cap; and instead they desecrated GoW, Dante's Inferno, and lost millions/billions of dollars.
They created far more debt than wealth in both the cultural and business sense.
Over at the yahoo stock boards someone writes, "If Inferno performs as well as I'm expecting at retail, which is to say dismally, shareholders will tally yet another strike against the failing leadership of ERTS. With any luck, this will expedite conclusive changes and get the stock price moving upwards once again."
Someone else writes, "DANTE INFERNO 6.5 ...OUCH!!! EA DOES IT AGAIN....SHORT! SHORT!"
TELETEXT GAME CENTRAL: 5/10: The works of both Dante Alighieri and David Jaffe are defiled in this shallow and puerile actioner & NYT: "gross misrepresentation" of Dante.

"The whole concept of killing babies is just horrendous on its own, but to add fuel to the fire, the title is 'Bad Nanny,' which I think is unconscionable," Wendy Sachs, co-president of the INA. Though unbaptized infants are mentioned in the original poem, she said that "the book is a story that's read and digested and put away ... whereas a game like this is stringing the ideas from the story and putting it into an interactive mode." As for Sunday night's ad, she said, "I think that it's just outrageous that anybody would promote a game that promotes killing babies and rewarding that."

Dante was not an ex-crusader and he did not sew cloth crosses into his chest.

well, truth be told, it seems teh game is as bad as, if not worse than, the demo:
TeamXbox:
It locks you into a gameplay hell of sorts, giving you a devil of a time just to try and survive, though rarely making you feel like the reward is worth the incredible effort. Instead of bringing the poem to life, the gamemakers slammed the book on your fingers.
Gamer.nl:
Dante's Inferno copies God of War in every way possible, except the part that makes God of War really good: the epic scale, the fantastic build-up and original puzzles. These elements are simply lacking in Dante's Inferno, and what remains is a brown version of the game that it was inspired by. EA could have done better with the source material.
